Do you long for greater confidence at work?

Don’t worry: you’re not alone. Research shows that more than 70% of us experience ‘symptoms’ of Imposter Syndrome on a daily basis. Research also shows that the more successful we are, the more ‘imposter’ thoughts and beliefs like these are likely to trouble us.

My name is Sarah Durrant. I’m a transformational coach and teacher dedicated to empowering men and women to step out from the imposter shadows into the light of their greater agency and expression.

This short session, brought to you by Taylor & Francis, is designed to be energising, engaging and practical. We will explore what Imposter Syndrome is, why we have it, and some of the common ways it can subtly but powerfully undermine our confidence, holding us back in our working (and wider) lives.

There will be time to share your reflections and experiences, and to ask any questions you may have. To be clear, there will be no pressure for anyone to contribute who does not wish to.

I will be offering everyone who attends two free gifts: the first is a simple but powerful practice designed to help you nurture a sense of being enough when Imposter Syndrome strikes. The second is the opportunity to join the powerful and empowering online course Overcoming Imposter Syndrome (taking place in May 2021) at a discounted rate.

If Imposter Syndrome casts a shadow in your life, or in the lives of those who you lead, love, parent or mentor, come and join us on Tuesday at 3:45pm (UK time) for what will be a lively, engaging and inclusive session.

Session available on demand from 9am (BST) Tuesday 13th April (Duration: 45 minutes) with a live Q&A at 1.25pm (BST) (Duration: 10 minutes)

Open Access books are becoming an increasingly significant part of the Open Research landscape. Drawing on perspectives from a range of stakeholders, this session explores both the challenges and the opportunities for OA books, including discoverability, data, cataloguing, funding, and more. Delving into the future of Open Access books, we will be offering some ideas and discussion about what the future holds for OA books. With a focus on OA scholarly research monographs, this session will cover the (recent) past, present, and future for this exciting, and fast-moving Open Access format.

Lightning Talk Group A – Advancing open data: implementing an Open and FAIR data sharing policy

Monday 12th April, 11.30am (BST)

This lightning session will outline our experiences of implementing a progressive data sharing policy across a number of Earth Science journals at Taylor & Francis, including the impact on our systems and feedback from other stakeholders involved. Such policies place significant new responsibilities on individual researchers, including how and where they preserve their data. This session will therefore be of particular interest to those involved in supporting authors to follow new data sharing requirements. It will also give a fascinating insight into how different parts of the scholarly communications community are working together to drive the data sharing agenda.

Breakout 13: Driving Positive Cultural Change: The Power of an Active ERG

Session available on demand from 9am (BST) Monday 12th April with a a live Q&A at 12.45pm (BST)

During this session, you will hear from four passionate activists and Employee Resource Group leaders who have had experience in starting up grassroots organisations in their respective communities at Elsevier, Wiley and Taylor & Francis. The goal of this session is to inspire and educate the audience on the opportunities & challenges faced by ERG leaders, highlighting the importance of ERGs and what your role – whether you are an individual contributor, manager or a senior leader – can be in supporting ERGs.

Challenging Thinking in Book Publishing

Wednesday 14th April, 1.10pm (BST)

At Taylor & Francis, we want an open and equitable research communications ecosystem which protects, amplifies, and democratizes trusted knowledge. We believe open research is the most efficient and impactful way to advance research and share knowledge that enriches lives. In order to achieve this vision, we are challenging thinking about publishing and exploring how it might work differently. In this presentation we present two recently launched initiatives that really shift the boundaries of book publishing: Open Books Data Sharing Policy and Open Plus Books.
