What is the main discoverability challenge you would like to overcome in your library?

Leonie Heath Marketing Assistant - Taylor & Francis, Library (Books)

In 2018 Taylor & Francis set out to find the biggest discoverability challenges faced by librarians. We visited an array of conferences and libraries around the world and asked librarians to take part in a poll, voting for the biggest discoverability challenge they would like to overcome.

Over 1,500 librarians participated in the poll which featured a variety of common discoverability issues to choose from. The challenges ranged from the comprehensiveness of MARC records to communicating to patrons how resources can enrich their research. After collating all the results from the year, we found that 30% of librarians see increasing awareness of available content as their biggest discoverability challenge. Take a look at the infographic below to see an overview of the 2018 results!

The aim of this discoverability poll was to identify challenges faced by librarians, so we can help transform them into successes. We are always interested to find out more about how we can support our customers, so please do talk to us at any of the conferences we attend – we would love to hear from you!
